Omega-3 Supplement Side Effects

Omega-3 is one of the most useful fatty acid you can take. In fact, it is so useful it is called an indispensable Fatty Acid (Efa). That is because the body cannot yield it and it must be obtained from your diet or a fish oil supplement. But there are some side effects that can be industrialized from taking supplements.

These side effects that you could develop are:

Fishy After Taste - There are reports that some citizen develop a fishy after taste when taking fish oil supplements. It is believed that this develops when taking low potential fish oil supplements. I take fish oil supplements and have never industrialized this side effect. Gastrointestinal Disturbances- Symptoms of gastrointestinal disturbances include such items as stomach pain, diarrhea, constipation, nausea and heartburn. Inflammatory Bowel Disease (Ibd) - Omega-3 supplements can cause symptoms of Ibd, which are diarrhea, belching and bloating. Blood Thinning- One of the benefits of Omega-3 is the potential to thin your blood. But if you are taking a blood thinning medication you should consult your physician before taking an Efa supplement. Allergic Reaction- Some citizen may develop an allergic reaction such as a rash, hives, itching and swelling when taking Efa supplements.

These are the possible side effects of taking fish oil supplements. To sell out these side effects there are some things you can do. For example you might want to sell out the dose you are taking. Many of the above side effects are caused by an immoderate dose.

Some citizen have found that keeping their supplements in a freezer help. It has also been reported that you can decree the potential of your supplement by putting it in the freezer. If the oil freezes, it is said to be of a low quality.

Instead of taking fish oil supplements, you can convert to taking flax seed or flax seed oil. This provides Efa in the form of Ala (alpha-linolenic acids). It is not as efficient as fish oil, which provides Efa in the form of Dha (docosahexaenoic acid) and Epa (eicosapentaenoic acid). Ala needs to be converted by the body to Dha and Epa to be of any use to the body.

There are also vegan or vegetarian supplements available, which do not include fish oil.

Conclusion

Omega 3 side effects from fish oil are minor in nature and can be over come by taking obvious actions. But getting Efas for the body is important, alternate sources such as taking flax seed or flax seed oil are available. Plus there are vegetarian supplements available.
